Arrival in Ashgabat. Transfer to the Old Nisa archaeological complex, located at the foot of the Kopetdag Mountains. Tour of the ruins of the ancient capital of the Parthian Empire: the royal fortress, ceremonial halls, religious buildings, and wine cellars. A guide will explain the Parthian Empire, its role on the Silk Road, and its significance in world history. A tour of the excavations and museum on the complex grounds will be held. Return to Ashgabat for an evening stroll through the city: Independence Square, the Neutrality Monument, and the Park of Lights. Dinner and overnight at an Ashgabat hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to New Nisa (the outskirts of the ancient capital) to explore additional archaeological sites. A trip to the Kopetdag Mountains includes a walk through picturesque gorges and the opportunity to enjoy a picnic in nature. Visit an ethnographic museum or craft workshops (as per the itinerary) to learn about the culture and traditions of the locals. Return to Ashgabat. Free time to shop for souvenirs and visit the Altyn Asyr bazaar. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at an Ashgabat hotel.
